BACKUP & DISASTER RECOVERY

Backups may fail due to a variety of reasons. There could be many problems, some of which include:

  1. A glitch in the operating system.

  2. Permission problems.

  3. Interaction of other software that causes it to temporarily fail.

  4. A full backup drive.

  5. Missing backup media.

  6. Hardware issues, such as disks going bad.

  7. Malware.

Weekly confirmation of your backup data file, ensures that your data is safe. When we log in to your server, we look at your backup file to confirm that it is recent and complete. If there is an issue with the file, we investigate to see what is actually causing the problem.

Software glitches, we troubleshoot to determine the cause and then research to get it working again. Credentials may have changed. So we go into the program and put in the corrected information. Sometimes we need to coordinate a reboot of the server with you. Sometimes the automatic cleanup process doesn’t work for one reason or another, so we would go into the drive and clear the folders to ensure there is sufficient space for the backups. If it is a hardware issue, for example, the disk is developing errors, we would identify the cause of those errors and coordinate getting the drive replaced. How we handle viruses and/or malware is further discussed below.

It is easy to setup a backup and assume it is working only to find out when you need it that the last successful backup actually took place months ago and now you have to redo countless hours of work. With either our Remote Access or the Maintenance Package, we make sure this is not the case.


SECURITY SOFTWARE & MAINTENANCE

When we provide and monitor antivirus software for our clients, we ensure that you are getting the best available protection with the least impact on system performance. Many antivirus programs including the leading brands reduce performance of your system by up to 30%. The antivirus software we select does not impact your systems in this way.

In addition to providing protection against viruses and other malware, our antivirus software is centrally administered allowing us to monitor and see alerts about issues impacting your specific computer systems. With our Remote Access package, we contact you right away to avoid the problem getting out of hand. With our Maintenance package, we remediate problems immediately behind the scenes to ensure that you have maximum uptime.


REMOTE REMEDIATION

Remote Access software allows you to work from home or on the road. The remote access software that we provide enables you to securely access important business information from anywhere there is an Internet connection.

In addition, we can provide remote support immediately without the need for someone to be on site. This lets us offer you faster intervention when problems occur. This also gives us the ability to handle your software updates and installation during off hours without requiring someone from your office to be on site.

Sometimes antivirus protection isn’t enough. New threats are being created daily and many of these are socially engineered to trick users into allowing them to run. Sometimes these get past the first line of defense. With our Maintenance package, we address this situation with manual malware scans and we take immediate steps to try to prevent data loss and loss of uptime. Many times we are able to eliminate the threat before it takes the system down.

Another thing to consider. Standard hard drives require defragmentation. If your systems have standard hard drives it is necessary to defragment them from time to time to maintain performance. With our Maintenance package, we do this automatically when the need arises. We would like our clients to be aware that Solid State Drive systems do not require this. Ask us about an upgrade to SSD to see if it is right for your systems.


SYSTEM OPTIMIZATION AND MAINTENANCE

When you begin using our Maintenance package, we optimize performance of all machines. We ensure that all systems are secure and performing properly. This helps maintain the security of systems and data, minimizes downtime and improves productivity. The first time this is done, it should be performed on site. For clients choosing this package, this initial cost is included – a value of approximately $795.

With today’s increased risks of security, regular updates are the primary way to prevent vulnerability to attack and data theft. Updates also keep systems running smoothly and are performed weekly with our Maintenance package. In addition, our intelligent approach minimizes the chance of bad updates because we wait until they have been field tested before authorizing deployment.

Updates will run on your machines whether or not you have a Maintenance package. When problems do occur, you can call us and we can remediate them. With a Maintenance package, we remediate most issues automatically.

Sometimes, however, the infection may require a shop visit. If the remote protocols aren’t sufficient
and the system is compromised, we contact you immediately and make arrangements to bring the
system in for an Operating System Reinstall and data scrub. While on our plan, you receive discounted rates on this work.


DISCOUNTED HOURLY RATES

For all of the above services, any maintenance and remediation work that can be done remotely is
included in your monthly price. If there are more extensive problems with your machine that would
require bringing it into the shop or an onsite visit, we will alert you to the problem and there would be additional charges involved.

When you purchase any of our Managed Services packages, we give you a discount off of our regular hourly rates for all of our IT support services including Small Business Consulting, Network Technician support performed either remotely or on site, and In Shop Computer Technician system repairs.
